Here are some Safety Guidelines and Helpful Race Day Tips to keep your race experience as fun as possible!
Staggered start for Short course only: ALL Paddleboard, Solid-wood board “Alaia” & Surfboard divisions at 11:00am. ALL SUP & SUPsquatch @ 11:15am. SUP’s will not be allowed in the water until after start of Paddleboard/Solid Wood “Alaia”/Surfboard divisions.
Long course divisions will start at Turtle Bay at 10:00am. Ocean start.
HAWAIIAN WATER PATROL will be coordinating the water safety aspects of the Da Hui Paddle Race. Should you have any water safety concerns, please contact Mahina Chillingworth at email@example.com
Please follow all safety instructions from HAWAIIAN WATER PATROL and the staff. If you’re having trouble, please wave to the water safety staff on jetski’s. Water Patrol staff has the right to pull competitors out from the race if deemed unfit to complete race or creating hazardous conditions for other competitors.
When reaching Waimea Bay, you need to finish on the right side of orange pillow buoy.
Be prepared to run/walk up to the finish line. If you need accommodations, please let Mahina Chillingworth know at firstname.lastname@example.org. OC1, OC2, OC4 & SUP’s, you’ll need to run/walk with your paddle. Caddies in race jerseys will only be taking boards and canoes. Please specify to caddy if you want to handle your own board/canoe.
To prevent theft, be sure to claim your board immediately after your time has been documented. Staff will be onsite matching your race number to your board number. An official race sticker will be handed to you at registration. Please place sticker on your board. Your race number will be handwritten on your arm or leg.
